Energy, excitement and fun were just some of the words used to describe Healthy Eating week in our nursery!

A week of fun filled activities to support the children’s learning and development saw full participation from everyone involved.

What better way to begin the day with breakfast to go and a nice, ice cold water to enjoy on the way to work for our parents.

With Father’s Day celebrations on the Friday we even roped some wonderful Dads in to join our daily Makaton sign as we continue to extend the children’s full range of communication and language skills by learning different signs.

Alongside the British Nutrition Foundation our team used the full extent of their imagination to provide an amazing range of activities which the children enjoyed as they learnt about the importance of hydration, how protein and fibre add to our boundless energy and how we can all enjoy our 5 a day!

Creativity, science experiments, art and craft and trips out into the local community were enjoyed as our team stretched and challenged the children’s learning through awe and wonder!

We have recently created a new area in our wonderful garden called ‘Potters Garden’ as the children use their green fingers to plant and take care of a range of lovely herbs and vegetables ready for them to eat in a few weeks.

We have also been teaching the children about the importance of looking after the environment using the week to specifically focus on reducing food waste. There were lots of important conversations with the older children about the world and how we can play our part in it’s conservation.
