Welcome to Monkey Puzzle Orpington

Welcome to Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Orpington, located at Rowan House, 64 Sevenoaks Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9JL. Our nursery is located close to the High Street in the town centre and is only a short walk from Orpington training station, making us perfect for families working in the local area or commuting in and out of London.

Our Orpington nursery provides a nurturing home-from-home environment, for children aged 3 months through to pre-school age. With an emphasis on learning through play, our carefully selected team of practitioners ensure your child is cared for in a safe, secure environment with planned activities to keep them engaged whilst having lots of fun.

We have dedicated rooms for our various age ranges and each room reflects the seven areas of learning, as prescribed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. All of our facilities are designed to be accessible to every child.

We are part of an award-winning nursery group, offering high quality childcare in our specially equipped nursery for children aged three months to five years old.

Adding to this, we tailor our care to suit your child’s age. We achieve this by placing children into the following age categories: babies aged 3 to 12 monthstoddlers aged 12 months to 2 years and toddlers aged between 2 and 3 years old and lastly preschool aged three years plus. Due to our rooms being equipped especially for these ages, we are able to provide that home-from-home feel.

When you ask yourself, what’s the best nursery near me, come and see us as we believe it’s Monkey Puzzle Orpington!

Hello. I’m Arlind and I am the owner of Monkey Puzzle Orpington. My team and I are dedicated to creating an outstanding environment that gives every child the best start in life, caring for and supporting them to play, learn and grow in a space where they can thrive.

Today we celebrated Fathers Day!

We had loads of fun inviting the dad's into our garden for a tea time pick-nick and play session with their children. The children had a ball showing their dads around our newly renovated garden, and from what we saw, the dads enjoyed it just as much!

Keep and eye on our page to see some lovely pictures of the children enjoying the afternoon with their dads. But for now, her is a little preview of our garden party.

Anysia was next up for the activity challenge this week and she done a brilliant job!
Anysia's focus area of learning was understanding of the world, she set up an activity with the intent being, the children designing their own buildings and talking about the different buildings they have seen and been inside. There was lots of resources to get creative with and the children done some amazing creations!

There was lots of conversation around what type of house or flat they live in and what materials it’s made from. The spark of this conversation was beautiful and the children informed Anysia lots of different comments like Spider-Man helped build my house, the Big Bad Wolf would blow down my house if it’s in the woods. My friend lives in a flat and you have to get in a lift to her front door.

The children most definitely met their intent and had lots of fun whilst doing so! They learnt new key words around buildings such as Granary, Detached, Sky Scraper and lots more!

Potty Training: Next Steps ✨

How do I know if it is the right time for potty training? There is no right time!

Much like everything else to do with children between the ages of 3 months to 5 years, the whole adaption process is unique to each individual child.

Dedicate your time, encourage your little ones, ensure you are consistent and most importantly, be patient with the process - using a potty is a new skill for your child to learn and often a new skill for you to teach.

We discuss the top tips to potty training and offer our Monkey Puzzle recommendations over on our website, head over for more information: monkeypuzzledaynurseries.com/top-tips-potty-training/

Thursday's theme has been a tasty one! We focused on healthy foods and what yummy treats we can make with them.
Their was lots of fruit tasting happening today as the children explored different fruits such as kiwi, pineapple, watermelon and lots more. Their reactions to each fruit was brilliant as they described the taste, smell and texture to their peers.
Delicious fruit kebabs and salads were also made as the children used their fine motor skills to practice chopping, slicing and dicing.

Wednesday`s topic was based all around oral health and the importance of keeping our teeth clean. Their was lots of focus around what foods can help keep our teeth clean and strong such as milk and what can make our teeth dirty, new key words were also introduced to the activities such as calcium and plaque.
The children had lots of fun brushing giant teeth, exploring toothpaste and mouthwash tuff tray and lots more fun!
Some of our Investigators and Explorers also went on a trip to Tesco's to look at the different products we can purchase to keep our teeth sparkling.

Healthy Eating Week 2024

Our topic of the day is Physical Activity. Our rooms have done some amazing activities with the children, every room used the interests and abilities of the children to create an enabling environment around these activities.

Explorers enjoyed a baby yoga session in the garden. They were encouraged to show off their favourite stretches and poses. Taking into account the physical ability of the young ones poses and stretches were adapted accordingly.

Discoverers played football with the children, this is a firm favourite in this room. The room was moved to ensure the safety of the children during this activity. The children were also encouraged to risk assess their surroundings while developing their gross motor skills and practicing their spatial awareness.

Investigators, went out into the garden and set up a well thought through obstacle course for the children. Again, this was adapted to the children's abilities. They incorporated so many different materials to keep things interesting. From hurdles to tyres, imaginations were running wild!

Lastly, Inventors used their room and some furniture there in to create a fun space for the children to explore. They set up a slide and a table to jump from. Encouraging physical activity and risk assessing while having loads of fun!

Saffron was our activity challenge for today, she wanted to create a farm yard tuff tray for the children to explore. Saffron set her intent for the children to identify animals on the farm.
Explorers delved into the different textures, used the puppets and stories to extend and support their learning and had lots of fun!
