Welcome to Monkey Puzzle Orpington

Welcome to Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Orpington, located at Rowan House, 64 Sevenoaks Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9JL. Our nursery is located close to the High Street in the town centre and is only a short walk from Orpington training station, making us perfect for families working in the local area or commuting in and out of London.

Our Orpington nursery provides a nurturing home-from-home environment, for children aged 3 months through to pre-school age. With an emphasis on learning through play, our carefully selected team of practitioners ensure your child is cared for in a safe, secure environment with planned activities to keep them engaged whilst having lots of fun.

We have dedicated rooms for our various age ranges and each room reflects the seven areas of learning, as prescribed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. All of our facilities are designed to be accessible to every child.

We are part of an award-winning nursery group, offering high quality childcare in our specially equipped nursery for children aged three months to five years old.

Adding to this, we tailor our care to suit your child’s age. We achieve this by placing children into the following age categories: babies aged 3 to 12 monthstoddlers aged 12 months to 2 years and toddlers aged between 2 and 3 years old and lastly preschool aged three years plus. Due to our rooms being equipped especially for these ages, we are able to provide that home-from-home feel.

When you ask yourself, what’s the best nursery near me, come and see us as we believe it’s Monkey Puzzle Orpington!

Hello. I’m Arlind and I am the owner of Monkey Puzzle Orpington. My team and I are dedicated to creating an outstanding environment that gives every child the best start in life, caring for and supporting them to play, learn and grow in a space where they can thrive.

Belinda works in our Explorers room and was set a different kind of activity challenge for this week. As Belinda has amazing musical talent, she was given the task of introducing 'Boogie Mites' into her room.
Belinda has been making instruments with the children today and they have used them to play along to the beat and rhythm of the songs. The children loved dancing whilst Belinda sang. They are planning on creating drums and various sound making instruments over the next couple of weeks.

Well done Belinda, amazing job!

This week Ellie M from our Discoverers was set the activity challenge.

The challenge was to create an activity for children to explore fossils. We wanted her to create her own Intent and she did a wonderful job.

The intent of the activity was for the children to recognize different shapes by using their fine motor skills to uncover the fossils (that were cut out into various shapes).

What a great idea!

📚Storytellers Wednesday📚

Our Pre-Schoolers used this opportunity to explore different books that the children were interested in today.

Our first activity was focused on Expressive Arts and Design. The children were presented with a wide range of materials to custom make their own aliens. We saw some very funny looking aliens and the children enjoyed showing and explaining their creations to their friends.

We also looked at an all time favorite story book, A Squash and a Squeeze. This activity was focused on Communication and Language as well as Understanding the World. the intent of this activity was to recall from the story what animals go into the house, we mixed it up a bit by adding in animals that were not from the book to get the children into problem solving mode.

Investigators transformed their room into a story telling dream today. They picked their favourite books during circle time, then whilst the children were playing in the garden, the books were brought to life and ready for the children to explore in the room.

They created treasures maps and delved into their senses at the farm on the ‘what the ladybird heard’ table.
Next up was creating delicious dishes at the Gruffalo Cafe.
After, they used their fine motor skills to rummage through the ‘super worm’ activity using tweezers.
There was ‘Harry and his bucket full of dinosaurs’ ready to go to nursery for a fun packed day.
Lastly, there was the ‘snail and the whale’ station where the children could splash and join the whales boat race or they could practice their letters to help save the whale. They could also design their own snails using playdough and different materials.

Amazing job Investigators , what a busy room for Story telling Wednesday!! 📚

📚Storytellers Wednesday📚

As The Gruffalo is currently our favourite book in the Discoverers room. We decided to use this opportunity to bring the story to life for the children. While the activity was being set up, the children enjoyed listening to an interesting performance of The Gruffalo.

They were then let loose to explore all the different textures and characters of the story. We had explored some Roasted Fox, a side of Scrambled Snake along with a deliciously fluffy Owl Ice-Cream and topped it all off with a lovely Gruffalo Crumble.
