Welcome to Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Orpington, located at Rowan House, 64 Sevenoaks Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9JL. Our nursery is located close to the High Street in the town centre and is only a short walk from Orpington training station, making us perfect for families working in the local area or commuting in and out of London.
Our Orpington nursery provides a nurturing home-from-home environment, for children aged 3 months through to pre-school age. With an emphasis on learning through play, our carefully selected team of practitioners ensure your child is cared for in a safe, secure environment with planned activities to keep them engaged whilst having lots of fun.
We have dedicated rooms for our various age ranges and each room reflects the seven areas of learning, as prescribed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. All of our facilities are designed to be accessible to every child.
We are part of an award-winning nursery group, offering high quality childcare in our specially equipped nursery for children aged three months to five years old.
Adding to this, we tailor our care to suit your child’s age. We achieve this by placing children into the following age categories: babies aged 3 to 12 months, toddlers aged 12 months to 2 years and toddlers aged between 2 and 3 years old and lastly preschool aged three years plus. Due to our rooms being equipped especially for these ages, we are able to provide that home-from-home feel.

Star of the week ⭐️
Our star this week is our amazing Arizona from Discoverers!
This week she stepped up when our kitchen team weren’t in and with the support from Paige, they cooked up a culinary delight for the children!
Not only that, she’s a great member of our staff team, she’s kind & caring, ready to help and always has a smile on her face!

Our girl🩷🩷
Superstar ✨
This week for our cooking day, every room had their own idea of a scrumptious snack.
Our Little babies made a lovely dairy free chocolate chip shortbread. from mixing to pressing the cookie cutters and then tasting the final product they enjoyed every second of it.
Discoverers made their own healthy pudding for tea today. They used a selection of berries and blended it with banana and yogurt to create a flavorful berry smoothie.
Investigators made sandwiches. They were given a variety of toppings to choose from. The children buttered their own bread and then got to add the toppings of their choice. What an appetizing addition to their tea time scones.
Last, but certainly not least, our Inventors were very creative in their approach and they are taking this cooking (and learning about the cooking process) home. In Pre-School children made vegetable pastries that will be sent home for cooking with the parents.

Time for another Activity Challenge!
Ellie in our Discoverers room was set the challenge to explore "Understanding the world", we went one step further and asked her to bring an element of novelty to the activity.
She then went on to look at what children were interested in this week before planning her activity. She found that they were very interested in transport so naturally used this as her starting point.
The intent was for the children to categorise were certain modes of transportation belong. The children got to explore a wide range of vocabulary as well as modes of transportation that they are not so familiar with. The conversations during this activity was out of this world!

🥔 JACKET POTATO!🥔
After a conversation that sparked about dinner at home, we decided to make our own jacket potatoes. The children were able to make choices of what they wanted on theirs, and even try a different combination!
Apparently tuna and beans is a great combination, some children liked it, some didn’t!
We also made home made coleslaw. Some of the children tried onion, red cabbage and white cabbage!

Some of our Investigators went on a very exciting trip today, they have recently been looking at different job roles of people who help us, such as the Police or Doctors etc. This week their focus has been Postmen and Post ladies and what they do as a job role.
The Children began by writing their own letters/ designing their own cards ready to be posted, this gave the children an opportunity to practice their letter formation and get creative. We then headed for a walk on this beautiful sunny day down to our local community, on our travels we met our local postman, he showed the children how many parcels and letters he had to deliver from his bag and told them where he was off to next. We continued our walk and spotted his delivering van, the children were very excited!
We eventually reached our destination, brought envelopes to keep their letters safe, filled out the children's addresses and purchased some stamps. The children loved paying for their items and looking at the different styles of stamps. The stamps were neatly placed on the children's very special letters and they then posted them through the post box.
Now time to wait patiently for the letters to be delivered to their house. 😀💌
