Welcome to Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Orpington, located at Rowan House, 64 Sevenoaks Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9JL. Our nursery is located close to the High Street in the town centre and is only a short walk from Orpington training station, making us perfect for families working in the local area or commuting in and out of London.
Our Orpington nursery provides a nurturing home-from-home environment, for children aged 3 months through to pre-school age. With an emphasis on learning through play, our carefully selected team of practitioners ensure your child is cared for in a safe, secure environment with planned activities to keep them engaged whilst having lots of fun.
We have dedicated rooms for our various age ranges and each room reflects the seven areas of learning, as prescribed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. All of our facilities are designed to be accessible to every child.
We are part of an award-winning nursery group, offering high quality childcare in our specially equipped nursery for children aged three months to five years old.
Adding to this, we tailor our care to suit your child’s age. We achieve this by placing children into the following age categories: babies aged 3 to 12 months, toddlers aged 12 months to 2 years and toddlers aged between 2 and 3 years old and lastly preschool aged three years plus. Due to our rooms being equipped especially for these ages, we are able to provide that home-from-home feel.

Star of the week ⭐️
This week it was so hard to choose just 1 staff member, that we decided to choose all 3!
A massive thank you and well done to our amazing senior team Charlie & Ellie in our pre-school room.
Last week saw the opening of the cabin, which we have lovingly called our ‘Learning Lodge’ and we asked both Charlie & Ellie to help ensure the smooth running of this project, yes we still have a few little wrinkles to iron out, but it has been a huge success thanks to their hard work and dedication.
Along the way we introduced one our newest team members, the lovely Melany who also got star of the week, because she has settled in so well and has built amazing rapports with the children and staff already, it feels as if she has been here months, not days.
A very big thank you to all 3 of these wonderful staff ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Celebrating success ⭐️
A big congratulations to our awesome Summer in pre-school, she is celebrating her 2 years service here with us at Monkey Puzzle.
She has great activity ideas to do with the children, she is full of interesting facts, and she has now decided to do her level 3 in childcare to strengthen her skills & knowledge even more so.

Science Day in Toddlers
Investigators had a bubbling week of fun 🤩 there science experiment was all bout road safety! 🚦they all sat down in a circle and stayed far back! In case the volcano erupted higher than we expected they mixed 3 colours together Red, yellow and Green.
We added in the secret formula and the children counted down from 5 “wow!” The children shouted with excitement as they explored all of the colours and even used the makaton signs do you know the makaton signs to each colour? after they was finished they spoke about the importance of road safety and what each colour means.

Celebrating success ⭐️
Congratulations to one of our awesome bank staff Molly, who is celebrating 2 years service with us.
Molly started out in our pre-school and was occasionally asked to support other rooms, which she really enjoyed and decided to become one of our bank staff.
Molly now supports all of our children across all of the rooms, she always ready to play with the children, and give them cuddles if they need them.

April’s inset day…
Our inset days are always filled with learning, training, safeguarding, team building and time spent in the rooms.
We always start the day with quizzes around safeguarding and policies & procedures, testing the staffs knowledge to make sure they know how to keep the children safe at all times, both inside and outside.
One of our team building challenges was to make the biggest number using lollipop sticks from the number 508 by only moving 2 sticks.
The staff spent time in their rooms having a good clean & tidy, relabelling baskets, and generally sorting their room, and to finish off the team had to set up an activity showing their understanding of the characteristics of effect learning which is part of the EYFS and how children learn.
Each room looked at how to motivate the children through play, how to get the children to think about what might happen next and how to keep them engaged in the activities.
All in all, a busy, fun packed day.

Star of the week ⭐️
Introducing one of our newer team members and our star of the week is our amazing apprentice Lilli.
She has started in our pre-school room and has got off to a flying start. She is growing as a new team member, she is getting used to the monkey puzzle ways and the children are really getting to know and love her.
