Welcome to Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Orpington, located at Rowan House, 64 Sevenoaks Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9JL. Our nursery is located close to the High Street in the town centre and is only a short walk from Orpington training station, making us perfect for families working in the local area or commuting in and out of London.
Our Orpington nursery provides a nurturing home-from-home environment, for children aged 3 months through to pre-school age. With an emphasis on learning through play, our carefully selected team of practitioners ensure your child is cared for in a safe, secure environment with planned activities to keep them engaged whilst having lots of fun.
We have dedicated rooms for our various age ranges and each room reflects the seven areas of learning, as prescribed in the Early Years Foundation Stage. All of our facilities are designed to be accessible to every child.
We are part of an award-winning nursery group, offering high quality childcare in our specially equipped nursery for children aged three months to five years old.
Adding to this, we tailor our care to suit your child’s age. We achieve this by placing children into the following age categories: babies aged 3 to 12 months, toddlers aged 12 months to 2 years and toddlers aged between 2 and 3 years old and lastly preschool aged three years plus. Due to our rooms being equipped especially for these ages, we are able to provide that home-from-home feel.

Time for another Activity Challenge
Ellie was set the challenge to do an educational walk with the pre-schoolers.
She went on to create a check list of animals we were likely to see in the park. Before they set off on their trip she showed the children the tick list to familiarise themselves with the pictures and what animals to look out for. They were asked to recall the animals we saw along the way to improve on their recall memory.
The children had a wonderful time and fully enjoyed taking the time to spot the animals and also feed the ducks some oats and peas.

Investigators went on an environment treasure hunt today, Chloe created various 'checklists' for the children to use as they observed their local community.
The children managed to spot a Bike, Motorbike, Post box, Birds, Trees and lots of different Vehicles. They was very chuffed when each box had a tick inside so they know they had completed the task they set out to do!
One our walk back to Nursery, one of the children said 'this has been the best trip ever'.

ICE CREAM FRIDAY🍦
Yesterday the children were all out in the garden, they created a little Ice-cream shop and enjoyed some imaginative role play. Charlie then decided to bring this role play to life by allowing the children to create their own ice-creams. They absolutely loved this activity! 🍦

Celebrating 1 year service for our brilliant Molly in Inventors. Molly is an amazing support within the room for both the children and staff, she’s always on hand to help out, give ideas and care. Molly adapts transitions to suit the children and takes it all in her stride.

All around the world was celebrated in our Discoverers room by exploring Mexico today.
The children enjoyed a trip down to Tesco to buy some bits to create a very exciting Nacho's Table in the room. They helped the staff cut up tomatoes as well as avocado's, creating a very special home made salsa along with guacamole. They had so much fun creating this lovely snack table and then had even more fun trying all the bits.
They also looked at the Mexican flag as well as some Mexican Land marks.

Today was All Around the world Thursday! Our Pre-Schoolers had a wonderful day learning all about Japan.
We had a go at making sushi 🍣
we created our own handheld fans!
We had a turn at writing some letters and short words in Japanese! 🇯🇵

Activity challenge...
Today it was the turn of one of our amazing bank staff team, Carina.
We challenged her to set up an activity around communication & language.
Carina went with animals, and the children were drawn to her activity like bees to honey. They were talking about the different animals they could see on the table and where they lived and what they ate, the names of the animals were also on the table next to white boards and pens to encourage the children to try and write the names they saw, some of the children sat and read the story books while the others used the musical instruments to sing old MacDonald had a farm.

Investigators took a different spin on all around the world day and decided to have a taster of all 7 continents. They had a jam packed day of activities to delve into.
🌎 Australia: explored animal life and the beach.
🌎 America: Adventured into America by making food such as burgers using playdough.
🌎Asia: Attempt to build iconic landmarks using a variety of construction toys and resources.
🌎Africa: learn about animals and traditional fruit through the story ‘Handa’s suprise’.
🌎Antartica: Learning about the animals who live in the cold weather and experiencing touching ice and feeling how cold it was.
🌎Europe: Learning how to speak different languages, saying hello 👋
